Jesse Grant asked:
So your website is new and your trying to gain new traffic from the search engines and your not getting anywhere fast. This is a common problem most new website owners face, considering it takes months before some sites are even indexed by search engines.
First off your going to want to make sure your website is optimized with proper keywords ,titles, header tags, so on so forth. Then your going to want to submit your site to all the popular search engines. After this there is not much to do besides collect inbound links and wait patiently. While your waiting for your site to show up in search engines you can optimize your site with RSS feeds ( real simple syndication) so your readers can follow you by subscribing to your feed or daily posts.
This is very powerful as it does not rely on search engines to provide you traffic. Once readers liked your site and have subscribed chances are they will keep on returning. You can also start monetizing your website by joining related affiliate programs or by making use of advertising revenue.
Of course it is hard to monetize a website if it has no content, so start by creating a content rich website that people will want to follow and work your way around the concept. Based upon your niche you will then chose relevant affiliate products and categories for your advertising revenue, this way you get a good conversion rate. Having cow ads or affiliate products rotating on a site about cats is not going to get you a good conversion rate.
The last thing I would suggest is to make sure your website captures your visitors email address and name by offering a free service or newsletter. This will help you build a targeted list which you can use in many ways down the road. With this said I hope one day you can be purchasing AdWords and making money from your now converting site.
